Lori Stephens

Demonstrating a high level of professional skill, dedication to excellence and commitment to continuing education, Lori Stephens achieved the Certified Communications Professional (CCP) designation from the AWC Matrix Foundation.

Stephen’s background in communications spans the full spectrum of content development, writing, editing, and publication management for both print and web. She has edited more than 80 published trade titles on topics ranging from Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), distance learning, and fine arts to finance and technology. In 2005, she founded Verbatim Editorial LLC (www.verbatimeditorial.com), an agency that specializes in applied psychology content. In the course of her career, Stephens has also:

Edited textbooks for higher-education publishers including Prentice Hall and Thomson Delmar;
Written content for Disney Internet Group;
Self-published a nonfiction title, House Mates: A Guide to Cooperative Shared Housing, in 1998; and
Published the novels Deep Structure and Alpha, Omega.

She holds a BA in English from the University of Oregon, where she served as Student Chapter President for AWC’s predecessor, WICI. She is a Certified NLP Practitioner, and her great loves include racquetball and Basenjis.

When asked what she learned as she worked through the CCP process, Stephens said, “The certification process was less an endeavor of learning and more of confirmation. With over 25 years of professional experience in communications, I have established my expertise and career. The AWC certification program helped to solidify my desire to continue my path in the field of communications and even helped me to define how I can expand my skills in the future.”
