Linda Timm Hankemeier earned her CCP designation in early 2015. She has had a life-long passion for the field of communications, starting as a girl writing little stories on paper scraps for her mother. Her career in communications now spans more than 20 years, with both corporate and non-profit organizations. Her experience ranges from internal and external communications to human resources, banking, and mutual funds operations. She is currently a communication manager at a Top 50 Fortune 500 company, a paid freelance writer, and communications instructor at a local college.
Linda serves on the National Board of Directors for AWC and chairs the organization’s Professional Development committee. She has held various leadership roles in her local AWC professional chapter, Bloomington-Normal, including president and board positions. She received the chapter’s highest honor, the Crystal Award, in 2001. She is also active in her community and shares her communication skills as a volunteer with the local cancer center, her alma mater, church, and local schools.
Linda earned her MS in Communications from Illinois State University, a BA in business administration & sociology from Illinois Wesleyan University, and the Chartered Life Underwriter designation from The American College. She is also a graduate of Leadership Illinois and Leadership McLean County (IL), and is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and the International Association of Business Communicators. She speaks at various events and blogs at “Just Living the Normal Life” at WordPress.com.
As she looks to the future, Linda hopes to tap into the area of communication measurement and evaluation to learn more about effective design and measurement of messaging.
